7N have been commissioned by Albyn Housing Society and The Calman Trust to develop designs for a training hotel to be based at Inverness Campus. The 4-star hotel will be run under social enterprise principles in order to support training opportunities for disadvantaged youngsters. It will supplement existing education and training choices available to young people and provide opportunities for some of society’s more vulnerable youngsters.
The hotel will have 120 rooms: 40 will be designed as self contained apartments for those requiring short-term accommodation whilst the majority will be high quality hotel rooms available for standard hire. The hotel will allow young people to work alongside professionals in all areas, including reception, maintenance, housekeeping, the kitchen and food service. The hope is that, as well as leaving with skills and a desire for further training and employment, individuals will have also learnt important skills for independent living. The £16 million hotel is set to open in 2014.
