7N Architects have been approached by a private landowner to develop designs for a family home in rural Perthshire. Set within a former farm estate, the building is designed as a highly sustainable ‘eco-home’ which takes advantage of opportunities for on-site micro-hydro renewable energy production and other passive energy

technologies. The site was carefully selected to take advantage of a dramatic sloped area with views along the local valley and across the adjacent reservoir. The building responds sensitively to the landscape, nestling into the slope and creating a dramatic arrival sequence which weaves along the edge of mature woodland and

between existing field hedgerows. The building is fully integrated with the landscape and a plan has evolved which responds to the former agricultural land use with proposals for new orchard planting and ecologically diverse grassland areas.
