Inverness Campus Phase 1

05 Jan 2010

An outline planning application for Phase 1 of the Inverness Campus at Beechwood, prepared by 7N Architects in collaboration with landscape architects the Lisa Mackenzie Consultancy, has been submitted to The Highland Council by Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE).

This application includes facilities suitable for key partners including Inverness College, UHI, Scottish Agricultural College, the Centre for Health Science and a residential facility. In September the Board of HIE approved expenditure over the next five years totalling £25 million on the project.

The 215 acre Campus is a multi-stakeholder project facilitated by HIE who have a vision for a state-of-the-art mixed use development that will encourage education, research and business organisations to work collaboratively in a way that will benefit the Highland and Island economy. A key aim of the Campus is to offer the opportunity to school leavers and mature students to remain in the Highlands for further, higher and post graduate levels of study, and attract students from other parts of the country and overseas.
